Godfather for the Wii
I spent a few evenings recently playing Godfather for the Wii. Godfather is both amazingly fun and shamefully violent. First, let’s examine why Godfather is such a fun Wii game.
Godfather for the Wii is extremely fun!
Godfather reminds me of Grand Theft Auto. You run around, drive cars, complete missions, and interact with people. But imagine doing all that with a highly interactive Wii controller. In Godfather, you fight like you would in a Wii boxing game. Even better, Godfather offers a number of punching moves, choking, and more.
I couldn’t sit down while playing Godfather because I had to move so much. The next day, my shoulders, arms, and back was sore from all the fighting I did. When was the last time you got sore after a workout from playing a video game?
Of course, Godfather also allows you to run and shoot using the Wii’s interactive controls. Just point your Wii Remote to aim the crosshairs on the person you want to shoot. Use the Wii Nunchuk Controller to run and move.
The Nintendo Wii’s controllers take first-person shooters to a whole new level. You feel like you are in the game because you must actually aim your gun, punch with your fist, or shake your hands to choke someone. You are fully immersed in the action.
If you liked Grand Theft Auto, buy Godfather for the Wii. Godfather is essentially the same game, with a bunch of new features that come with the interactivity of the Wii controllers. You will not be disappointed.
Godfather for the Wii is extremely violent!
If you have read this review of Godfather for the Wii so far, you already have a good idea about how violent this game is. You run around, shoot people, kick people, choke people, and use other weapons on people. You control these weapons by doing similar movements to what you would do in real life. While you stab someone with a knife, you see blood.
Clearly Godfather for the Wii is not a game for children. Some might also question whether Godfather is a good game for anyone. You can’t help but feel uncomfortable with the realism that you feel when you physically act out various acts that result in murder on screen.
It’s so real that your adrenaline is pumping. While many players may love this aspect, for me, I felt uncomfortable with how immersed I was in these violent acts. I didn’t feel uncomfortable enough to stop playing, but I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t want a family member to see me choking a girl on screen while I shook my hands in a choking manner in front of the TV.
Watch Godfather for the Wii yourself!
Decide for yourself what you think. This video shows some of the moves. I don’t think this video fully demonstrates the violence in the game, but it’s enough to give you an idea.
I’m interested to hear from others who have played the Wii version of the Godfather game. What do you think? Did you enjoy it? Did you think it was too violent?
